It’s a season of love, sharing and gifting; and Airtel during this yuletide season is giving customers more freedom to have a carefree mobile conversation and Internet connection with their loved ones.
Following the successful unveiling of SmartRecharge, the leading telecom service provider recently uploaded a new ad for the product across all its social media platforms – themed “Whatcha Doing?”
The advert centered on two lovers, Uche and Uju, from the eastern part of Nigeria preparing for their traditional wedding. The ad which was delivered in English and Igbo languages featured a bride frequently calling her fiancé to inquire on wedding arrangement.
In the 1 minute 45 seconds advert, Uche believes it is time to settle down with his United State returnee girlfriend, Uju by performing the customary “Ngba Akwo” traditional marriage of the Igbos. To kick this in motion, Uche secretly made arrangement for the D-day procuring all of the items on Uju’s bride price list.
Being the “igbotic” romantic bridegroom that he is, Uche decides to go about doing this discretely by traveling to the village to enlist the help of his friends and family in assembling the price list. All done secretively from Uju.
At the end, the commercial takes us in a rollercoaster of “hide & seek” with Uju fueling her pester power with SmartRecharge while Uche puts all his skill of elusion to play. Finally, Uche assembles his full bride price and unveils this to Uju through a surprise video call. This astonishes Uju, who makes an outpour of her love and thanks to Uche. The commercial ends with a befitting traditional marriage between the two love birds.
The ad succinctly demonstrated how Airtel breaking the barrier of voice call and data constrains of customers, giving them 10 times the value of their recharge as data and calls to all networks. The bundle is open to new and existing Airtel customers and can be enjoyed by simply recharging using the special code: *220*PIN#.
With SmartRecharge customers get great value for both calls and data in one single convenient recharge. In addition to the 10 times value, the package also gives customers extra data value. For instance, a recharge of N100, gives N500 for calls and N500 for data while N500 gives N2000 for calls, N3000 for data & extra N3000 for data.
The Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Mr Ahmad Mohkles, said the new package themed #DoAnyHow is to give more freedom and reward to the customers.
“As a customer-centric brand, we at Airtel Nigeria are committed to making life better for all our customers by offering products and services that suit everyone.
