Carl Ikeme retires from professional football
Nigerian goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme has announced his retirement from professional football.
Ikeme who recently announced his remission after a year-long battle with Leukaemia wrote on Twitter on Friday, “Thank you for the support over the years. My last day as a footballer. But one I am happy and great full for !!!”
According to him, “I spoke with the doctor and he suggested I should retire, because of the toll the treatment has taken on my body. He thinks it’s what is best for me and I can’t really risk trying to come back, my health is the priority”.
The Wolves goalkeeper will be taking time off with his young family before embarking on life after football.
Dino Melaye returns from the “wilderness” and Twitter goes berserk
Following unconfirmed reports on Thursday that Senator Dino Melaye had been abducted, there were high expectations as to what would unfold from the Melaye/Murray-Bruce stable today.
The senator representing Kogi West senatorial district took to Twitter early today to report his own situation. According to him, he spent “11 hours in the wilderness” after experiencing what he described as “a dangerous attack”.
I thank God once again for escaping another dangerous attack. I also thank Nigerians for their prayers and show of Love. Spent 11 hours in the wilderness traumatized but God preserved me. God is the best and in whom ONLY I trust. They will continue to try. WE SHALL OVERCOME!!!

In the heat of his alleged abduction, the Nigerian Police had clarified that they had not received a report to that effect.
Although he thanked Nigerians for their prayers, Senator Melaye’s “return” from the deep forests elicited hilarious reactions:
